The Biker Bucket List: North Africa to Dakar
João Sousa is a Solo Adventure Rider from Portugal who has travelled routes in more than 30 countries. He does what many of us only dream about – taking time
In four major solo overland adventures covering over 35,000 km, João has visited nearly every country in Europe as well as the North West Coast of Africa, mainly on a BMW F650 GS.
He got the bug from his grandfather Augusto Macedo Pinto, who used to ride his Triumph Tiger T100 through Africa and Europe.
João’s last trip, to Senegal’s Dakar (yes, that Dakar) has been featured as Bucket List photo essay on Biker & Bike.
In November 2017 he’s setting off on his next adventure - to cover nine sub-Saharan countries in what he’s calling his Southern Africa 360.
We’ll be covering him as he travels through Mozambique, Swaziland, Lesotho, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Zambia and Malawi, over a vast range of riding habitats between the Indian and Atlantic Oceans.
If your motorcycling brand would like to be a part of that journey, please contact João either through the Editorial team at Biker & Bike or over on his own website: joaoaroundtheworld.com
